Design Studio: Processes
In the Toni-Areal the Museum für Gestaltung launches “Design Studio”, a new interactive type of exhibition. It provides rare insights into the design process of important designers while also offering visitors a platform for learning and experimentation.

The renowned graphic designer and typographer Stefan Sagmeister presents the results of his personal research into happiness. The show transgresses the boundaries between science, design, and everyday culture, stretching across the museum spaces into the Toni-Areal.

For the latest edition of
MyCollection
New York-based graphic designer Stefan Sagmeister rummaged through the collections of the Museum für Gestaltung Zürich. In the process he made a selection of outstanding objects and commented personally on them.

Globalization, women’s rights, Trump: the poster has established itself as an effective medium for political struggle. 50 years after 1968, the onset of a worldwide rebellion, this exhibition presents around 300 international protest posters.

Sebastião Salgado – Genesis
Sebastião Salgado depicts the earth as a creation of overwhelming beauty. The exhibition is a dramatic manifesto that not only touches visitors with its opulent black-and-white photographs, but also raises open questions about how we deal with the planet.

3D Lettering on Buildings
Three-dimensional typefaces are omnipresent and exceptionally di verse. The exhibition focuses on 3D letterings on buildings, which take into account architectural features and their surroundings, thus affording buildings a fitting identity.

Self Promotion
The Museum für Gestaltung Zürich, founded in 1875 as the Kunstgewerbemuseum, has always conveyed its identity to the public using the tools of visual communication. Thus over the course of more than a hundred years the museum has developed a poster collection that warrants its own edition, bringing together illustrious names ranging from Ernst Keller and Max Bill to Ralph Schraivogel.
