Harpist, composer and more...

Julie Campiche is a harp jazz pioneer. And yet Julie is far more than a harpist! She is also a vocalist, composer, sound designer, teacher, theatrical production musical director and collaborator. Her work is an on-going process of musical innovation in jazz, classical, electronic and avant-garde exploration. She has developed a deeply personal, highly distinctive musical language.

Julie’s multi-facetted work is highly acclaimed. The exceptional passion and dynamism she brings to it make for a fascinating career. She introduced her harp into the world of jazz and contemporary music in a very organic way and is now a highly respected musician. She performs in numerous European clubs and festivals on a regular basis and has worked with an impressive array of groups and artists.

Her musical language is drawn from her generation’s most urgent concerns; stockpiles of radioactive waste, the media’s incessant flow of news, feminism and identity in a digital world. Taken as a whole, these themes infuse her music with a determined yet urgent fragility that is as compelling as it is reflective.

Victor Hugo said that “music is sound that thinks”. However with Julie it would be better to say that music is a beautiful sound that thinks!
