Poetry, humor and restrained colors characterize the poster world of Swiss graphic designer Lora Lamm. In the 1950s, she helped the Milan department store "La Rinascente" or the rubber manufacturer "Pirelli" to achieve an equally unmistakable appearance, as she later did as a partner of the advertising agency Frank C. Thiessing for numerous national and international clients. Lamm's posters are characterized by the sensitive exploration of graphic means and an independent approach in the environment of progressive graphic design of the post-war period. Lamm thus straddles the border between Italy and Switzerland, illustration and graphic design, past and present. The posters still fascinate today with their original combination of solid Swiss technique and playful realization, also thanks to Italian influences.
