Niklaus Troxler has achieved international fame primarily with his jazz posters. They are synaesthetic events, make music physically tangible and demonstrate Troxler's tireless passion for graphic invention. On the occasion of his 75th birthday, the Museum für Gestaltung Zürich honored Troxler's poster work with a publication in the Poster Collection series. The designer in turn presented the museum with a temporary mural: in a live performance accompanied by jazz music, Troxler created this with colored adhesive tape on the vestibule wall. With virtuosity and creativity, he translated the character of the experimental music onto the surface, taking up its improvisational gestures.
