As part of the exhibition Sebastião Salgado - Genesis, the education department of the Museum für Gestaltung Zürich presented the results of a series of workshops for schools in the Vestibül.

In his deeply personal project, Salgado showed his view of the beauty of the earth in dramatic black and white photographs. What do his photographs depict? What is brought into focus, what is faded out? What story or stories do his pictures tell and what artistic means does he use? Pupils explored the tension between documentation and construction and applied the questions to their own work. The young photographers searched for suitable motifs in and around the museum and staged them. They processed the photographs digitally and put them on paper in the darkroom in an analog process.
