Art always embodies material and cultural prosperity and is particularly suitable for ensnaring consumers: Its aura ennobles any commercial intention. Michelangelo’s David and Leonardo Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa are among the most frequently quoted works. Whether reproduced unchanged or reinterpreted, these appropriations demonstrate the extent to which individual artistic creations are considered common cultural property.
