Bold Intervention – Environment Posters by Klaus Staeck

While young people are fighting in the streets for the future of our climate, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change releases its sixth, highly disturbing report. Ever since the 1970s, German political graphic artist Klaus Staeck has been urgently warning with his posters of the dangers of man-made climate change and environmental destruction. His sophisticated photomontages echo the aesthetic of advertising posters. Their explosive power comes from how Staeck places familiar images and texts in a new context. The exhibition brings together 18 posters full of vicious irony that has a way of making our laughter get stuck in our throats.
