René Hubert: The Clothes Make the Star
What would movie stars be without glamorous outfits and the costumes that transform them into characters? From the 1920s to the 1960s, the Swiss René Hubert belonged to the crème de la crème of costume designers in Hollywood and Europe. The versatile designer also worked for musical theater and fashion houses, as well as designing uniforms for Swissair flight attendants. This is the first exhibition of his life’s work.

From the 1920s black-and-white silent film to the color-saturated Cinemascope of the 1950s, Swiss film costume designer René Hubert left his mark on some two hundred films in Hollywood and Europe. The Filmpodium – program cinema of the city of Zurich – presents a film series of eleven selected films on the exhibition from May 16 to June 30.
