Textile Manifestos — From Bauhaus to Soft Sculpture

Fanciful fringes vie with austere clarity, embroideries on a plane with objects crafted in the round. The variety of textile works is vast, ranging from geometrically ordered weavings in two dimensions to free forms in space. The exhibition shows anonymous pieces side by side with well-known positions such as those of Sheila Hicks and Elsi Giauque. This results in some surprising adjacencies of comparable perspectives from different periods.
