Since 2014, the collection of the Museum für Gestaltung Zürich has been united under one roof in the Toni-Areal.
Over 580,000 objects are stored in the collection archives (3900 m2). Three climate zones take into account the different conservation requirements of the objects. The centerpiece is a free-standing, two-story high-bay warehouse in which individual objects can be viewed up close. The collection archives can be viewed twice a week as part of guided tours.
The infrastructure of the collections (offices, conservation studio, quarantine, photo studio, research room for external visitors, etc.) is directly adjacent to the archives. The Media and Information Center (MIZ) of the ZHdK and the museum is located above the collection archive and the exhibition spaces: over 300,000 media, documents and objects relating to the content areas of the ZHdK and the museum are accessible here and can be viewed by researchers, students and interested parties. The MIZ also houses the documentation center for all of the museum's exhibitions since 1875.
