Australian singer KRISTIN BERARDI and double bassist LUKAS TRAXEL have been performing as a duo for some time, combining their own skills, virtuosity and sensitivity in a way that appeals not only to jazz lovers.
Kristin Berardi is an extremely creative, expressive and sensitive musician, composer and educator who is passionate about sharing music. Kristin comes from the Australian state of Queensland and now lives in Lucerne, where she has been teaching jazz singing at the HSLU since 2021. After already being one of the most sought-after jazz singers in her home country, she quickly established herself in the European jazz scene as well. With her expressive voice, she masters a wide range of styles, from fragile melodies to wild and virtuoso improvisations. Anyone who knows Kristin is touched and inspired by her! Not only has she played with a long list of music greats (including Al Jarreau and George Benson), but she has also received numerous awards for her work. She won the international singing competition at the Montreux Jazz Festival. Her last album “The Light and the Dark” was released in 2022 (Earshift).
Lukas Traxel is a highly regarded and sought-after jazz bassist, not only in Switzerland. Born in the Swiss Alps, his playing is as grounded as the mountains where he grew up, and at the same time as fluid and rushing as the river that makes its way through the valley. Or as Mirko Weber put it in the Stuttgarter Zeitung: “mind plus skill plus energy for two”. In the spring of 2023, his debut album “One-Eyed Daruma” was released on the renowned label “Wejazz”.
