Marmoriertes Tuch auf Betonboden.

In her work, Marie Schumann explores the relationship between the human body and built space in a digitalized environment. Her soft screens, produced using computer-based jacquard weaving, show the roots of the digital in weaving and the origin of architectural space formation in textiles.

In 2023, Marie Schumann won the study commission for art and construction by invitation organized by the Canton of Zurich Building Department. Five works are now distributed in the new replacement building of the Baugewerbliche Berufsschule Zürich designed by Gunz & Künzle Architekt:innen.

A documentary by Swiss director Alan Sahin follows the process from digital conception to installation. The documentary was produced by the Canton of Zurich Building Department and the Museum für Gestaltung Zürich.
