Plastered, stapled & sprayed: underground posters continue to shape Zurich’s landscape to this day. The exhibition traces the poster culture of Zurich’s music underground from its beginnings around 1980 to the present day. On this wall, works from different scenes, periods, places, and techniques come together. From xerography and collage to risograph printing and video flyers, they reflect shifts in media, express distinct attitudes, and operate with a conscious aesthetic self-referentiality.
These works testify to a self-conception that closely links formal experimentation with cul- tural and urban change. They speak of vanished clubs, transformed neighborhoods, and resistant autonomous spaces. As diverse as the music and the graphic languages may be, they share one thing: they have shaped Zurich’s cultural life and opened up new spaces within it.
