Circle of Friends
The association “Circle of Friends” of the Museum für Gestaltung Zürich creates a unique framework for design achievements. For, in addition to the support from the public authorities, good design also needs private involvement. As a “friend of the house” you make it possible for the Museum für Gestaltung Zürich, to continue presenting design, visual communication and architecture for discussion at an international level. The museum’s task includes preserving the history of design in our collections, presenting contemporary positions in exhibitions and publications, and taking an enquiring look into the future.
As a member you support the museum and you enjoy numerous privileges that allow you to explore even more intensively the rich variety of facilities we offer:

Board
Franziska Barmettler (b. 1982)
Master of Science in Economics. Since 2019 Head of Sustainability at IKEA Switzerland and member of parliament of the Canton of Zurich for the Green Liberal Party. Member of the Boards of Operation Libero and swisscleantech; co-founder and Head of Policy of the swisscleantech business association from 2009 to 2016 and Co-CEO from 2015 to 2016.
Daniel Freitag (b. 1971)
Trained as a graphic designer from 1988 to 1992, worked as a freelance graphic designer for various Zurich advertising agencies. Since 1993 employer and idea generator, bag maker, truck tarpaulin recontextualizer, designer, developer, representative, and with Markus Freitag founder and owner of FREITAG lab. ag.
Vice President: Niklaus Haller (b. 1974)
Master of Arts in Secondary Education, Master of Advanced Studies in Business Administration (Zurich University of Applied Sciences). From 2001 to 2018 Director at Credit Suisse Schweiz AG (Senior Management), since 2019 Head of Clients and Member of the Executive Committee at Globalance Bank AG.
President/Treasurer: Markus Helbling (b. 1961)
Self-employed independent management consultant and board member. Chairman of the Board of Directors of Soeder AG since 2021. From 1986—2022 various positions at BDO AG, including member of the Executive Committee.
Arthur Rüegg (b. 1942)
Architect ETH BSA SIA. Professor emeritus at ETH Zurich. Own architecture firm in Zurich since 1971. From 1991 to 2007 Full Professor of Architecture and Construction at ETH Zurich. Researches and publishes on contemporary Swiss architecture as well as on classical modernist construction, colors, and interiors.
Office Manager: Mónica Gómez (b. 1973)
Assistant to the Director at the Museum für Gestaltung Zürich since April 2023. Commercial employee & marketing specialist with over 20 years of experience in electronic media. Mainly worked for marketers as well as TV and radio stations, mainly in the areas of product management, marketing & sales support.
Megi Zumstein (b. 1973)
Trained as a signwriter, followed by studies in visual design at the Zurich School of Art and Design (today Zurich University of the Arts). Won Swiss Design Award in 2002. Lecturer at the Lucerne School of Art and Design. Worked with Claudio Barandun at the graphic design studio “Hi” from 2007 to 2019 before founding Megi Zumstein Visuelle Gestaltung in 2020.
