Kultur inklusiv

As a member of the Kultur inklusiv network, the Museum für Gestaltung Zürich is committed to ensuring equal and independent access to its cultural offerings for people with disabilities.

Our internal guideline for accessible exhibition design is based on recognised standards and is applied from the earliest stages of concept and planning. The aim is to reduce physical, sensory and communication barriers and to embed inclusive practices structurally and sustainably.

Key areas of the guideline:

  • Space and navigation: step-free access, clear pathways, sufficient turning space, ramps and wide passages
  • Texts and media: legible typography, high contrast, plain and easy-to-read language, additional tools such as audio description, subtitles or QR codes
  • Interactive elements: multisensory access (touch, hearing), wheelchair-accessible stations, ergonomic usability
  • Design for all: exhibitions should be independently accessible and enjoyable for everyone, regardless of individual abilities

Accessibility is not a one-off feature, but an integral part of our exhibition development.
