About the project

For the first time, the museum is putting different perspectives on its collection at the center of an exhibition. In this context, interested students between the ages of 9 and 15 developed an exhibition concept as a "youth collective" that takes a look at Zurich's design from a young perspective.

Which designed spaces, buildings and products can young people identify with? And can these spaces, buildings and products also be found in the collections? jung love Züri takes the public on a journey through the young city: "We had more than fifty ideas for the exhibition. Deciding was real work. We had to be familiar with the topic, it had to have something to do with us, but also with design. In the end, it was clear that it would be an exhibition about Zurich. We brainstormed the question: What do we associate with our city? Then we looked in the collection archives to see which objects fit in with our everyday lives in Zurich. We didn't find some cool brands and current products there, so we're presenting them here."

The jung love Züri concept was developed in the Youth Collective 1 and 2 courses. 55 students in project lesson #13: young brands contributed their expertise and helped select the latest products. They researched on the internet and made short promotional videos to convince the youth collective of their recommendations.

A rotating display case in the Jugendkollektiv: jung love Züri exhibition is filled each month with a new object that the young curators believe is worthy of becoming part of the collection. The "object of the month" is also published on the museum's Instagram account. Some of the products proposed by the youth collective were already included in the collections before the exhibition opened.
