About the project

From the outset, the Museumjung project planned to establish a youth committee that would be actively involved in everyday museum life and contribute to the conception of collection exhibitions, among other things. In order to realize this plan, the project team entered into direct dialogue with young advisors from the Limmat School.

In Think outside the Box, students used design thinking methods to work out what this committee could look like: How many young people should be involved? What age difference would be acceptable? What principles are important for collaboration? What name should it be given? How could young people in the neighborhood and beyond be motivated to become part of the youth committee? And above all: How do they even find out about this offer?

The students agreed that Instagram would be the most promising channel to advertise the offer. With the help of a graphics program, they designed proposals for an Insta-Story on iPads. Impressive designs were created. A jury consisting of representatives from the museum's communications department and a graphics expert evaluated them in terms of content and design.

The call for entries was then published on the museum's Instagram account. Unfortunately, despite having over 33,000 followers at the time, the response was not as good as hoped. However, a youth panel was set up at a later date under the name Jugendkollektiv (Youth Collective) as a cross-level offer from the Limmat School.

In Youth Collective 1 and 2, interested children and young people aged 9 to 15 developed the jung love Züri concept for one of the seven perspectives of the Collection Insights exhibition (26.1. - 1.12.2024) in participatory processes. The exhibition acted as a kind of prototype for the planned new permanent exhibition of the collections, which will open in the Toni-Areal in 2025 to mark the 150th anniversary.

Museumjung
