Project documentation
Under the label "DesignScouts", students developed elements for a new permanent exhibition of the collections, which will open in the Toni-Areal in 2025. The Collection Insights - Seven Perspectives exhibition served as a kind of prototype.

For the first time, the museum is placing different perspectives on its collection at the center of an exhibition. In this context, interested children and young people between the ages of 9 and 15 developed a concept for one of the seven sub-exhibitions as a "youth collective" in participatory processes. It was received with great approval by the program committee.
"We had more than fifty ideas for the exhibition. We had to be familiar with the topic, it had to have something to do with us, but also with design. In the end, it was clear that it would be an exhibition about Zurich. We brainstormed the question: What do we associate with our city?" (Youth collective)
For the young people from District 5, Zurich is characterized by urbanity and a fast pace. They experience their city as fast, hectic, loud and stressful due to (too) many people, car traffic and exhaust fumes. At the same time, it also offers many opportunities for fun and encounters with youth-oriented events, city squares, green spaces and water. Zurich is criss-crossed by a dense network of public transportation. It enables young people to get around their city and has a positive impact on the city, not only visually through the blue and white color code, which triggers "Züri feelings". There are numerous places where young people like to spend time, public spaces that they find cool, buildings and objects that characterize these spaces. Posters advertise interesting events, and there are products and brands that are part of their lives. For the young experts, young Zurich is colorful, diverse and multicultural. Jugendkollektiv: jung love Züri takes the audience on a journey through the young city and makes suggestions as to how the collections can be expanded.
The youth collective took place as part of the promotion of the gifted and talented. Pupils from the Limmat school were able to apply across all classes, stating their personal motivation. In the follow-up course Youth Collective 2, the concept was further developed and a film was made about design in the neighborhood. Pupils in project lesson #13: Young brands supported the selection of current products.
