Skala Design, the studio run by Arjun Gilgen and Stefan Hürlemann, has been responsible for exhibition graphics at the Museum für Gestaltung Zürich since 2023. For Young Graphic Design Switzerland! they also designed the promotional materials.

The design process involved almost 2,500 drafts and variations, during which Skala Design explored associations with the terms “young” and “Swiss graphic design”. The aim was to strike a balance between simplicity and complexity in order to create a multi-layered motif that was visually clear. The end result is a tongue-in-cheek smiley face made of typography: a concise, playful symbol of digital visual communication and, at the same time, a universal icon.
