The Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich and the Museum für Gestaltung Zürich are jointly presenting a talk and concert in the exhibition Talking Bodies – Body Images in the Poster with Bryce Dessner, this season’s Creative Chair of the Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich. A composer on the one hand and guitarist of indie rock outfit The National on the other, he moves through different worlds, creatively tackling the challenges currently facing our society.

In a conversation moderated by Dr. Ulrike Thiele, Bryce Dessner and curator Dr. Bettina Richter will bridge the fields of design, art, and music. Various aspects of the exhibition will be placed in relation to Bryce Dessner’s perspective as an artist: What are the stereotypes he sees himself confronted with, both as a rock star and in the world of classical music? How does he confront them through his art? And what changes has he observed in his more than 20 years of creative activity?

Two musicians from the ZHdK will play two works by Bryce Dessner in the centre of the current exhibition. The audience is equipped with headphones and folding stools and invited to wander through the exhibition and take new perspectives of their own. Afterwards there will be an aperitif offered by SwissRe, and the exhibition will be open until 9pm.

Headphones and folding stools are made available to the visitors to move freely through the exhibition.
