The Museum für Gestaltung Zürich is committed to responsible and sustainable action. Our goal is to use resources sparingly, reduce environmental impact, and uphold both social and cultural responsibility.
Sustainability is not only a structural part of our institutional development, but also a central theme of our curatorial work. Through exhibitions, educational formats, and projects, we address ecological, social, and societal issues and show how design disciplines can contribute to a future-oriented use of resources.
Our understanding of sustainability is guided by the UN Sustainable Development Goals, the Swiss Federal Government’s Kulturbotschaft, and the ZHdK’s sustainability strategy. We focus on areas where we can make a tangible and feasible contribution – in museum operations, our programmes, and the management of our collection.
These principles guide our actions across four key areas, which we address in a targeted way to achieve lasting impact.
