Book Design at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts

Fifteen students in the Bachelor’s program in Graphic Design at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts developed original books based on the collection of the Museum für Gestaltung Zürich. Over the course of six weeks, they created unique concepts that reinterpret the museum’s images and texts in surprising ways.
 

Healing Light

How can designed light soothe, comfort, and contribute to healing? Students in the Bachelor’s program in Art Education at Zurich University of the Arts collaborated with the Children’s Hospital Zurich to develop experimental light objects that were tested in the hospital’s daily routine with young patients.
 

Hands On! The Collection You Can Touch

Here, design can be discovered not only with the eyes, but also with the hands. In collaboration with experts with visual impairments, nine objects from our collection were selected that are particularly fascinating to touch. They are accompanied by informative audio descriptions.
 

Glarus Textiles for the African Market

In the 19th century, the textile industry made the canton of Glarus a major hub for international trade. The “Glarus cloths” on display, which were produced between 1920 and 1940 for the Senegalese market, tell the story of global trade relations, industrial production, and the intertwining of Swiss design history with colonial economic structures.
