The Museum für Gestaltung Zürich holds the largest international design collection in Switzerland. The new permanent exhibition presents highlights from it and makes parts of the archive permanently accessible for the first time.

The Swiss Design Collection presents around 2,500 objects from the fields of graphics, typography, poster design, textiles, product design and arts and crafts. The newly accessible archive also allows visitors to experience the stored objects up close. Each object has a unique history and is the result of a design process. In addition, the exhibition uses temporary installations to show different perspectives on the collection. In the integrated studio, visitors can create their own designs, try out designs, deepen their knowledge, exchange ideas or simply relax.

«Man staunt, mit welcher ästhetischen Ordnung die Fülle der Objekte präsentiert ist. Allein die Bahnen der Stoffmuster an den Wänden sind eine reine Lust zum Schauen und verführen dazu, in den Schubladenschränken immer neue Musterbögen und Entwürfe zu entdecken.»
