With its wide-ranging educational activities, the Museum für Gestaltung Zürich focuses on the fields of design education, participatory exhibition practice and cultural participation. The aim of education is to cultivate the museum as a place of dialog, active action and design and to enable the public to contribute diverse perspectives to museum projects.
In workshops and projects, elements of design thinking encourage people to think playfully, analytically and critically with their heads, hearts and hands, to communicate and strive for understanding, to experiment, to fail and to start again, to design and implement independently or in a team.
Design education is ideally suited to raising awareness of current socially relevant issues and initiating aesthetic education processes. It is also methodologically suitable for promoting creativity and social commitment, especially among young people. The exploratory examination of material culture, the physical handling of things and the practice of craft techniques appear to be highly relevant in a digitally transforming world.
Already designed today? The educational program offers a variety of insights into design topics. Workshops, guided tours and talks invite you to discuss, experiment and do it yourself and encourage creative processes.
As part of teaching and training projects with degree programs at Zurich University of the Arts as well as collaborations and partnerships in the cultural and educational sector, the mediation offerings open up interdisciplinary approaches.
